#BETHESHIFT: from institutions to community-based settings
The campaign #BeTheSHIFT kicked off on the 28th November 2019 with the launch of the S.H.I.F.T. Guide.
We are an organisation that works for the rights of all families in Europe since 1958. In short, we are called ‘COFACE’. We wrote this easy-to-read booklet to talk about our aims for 2020-2024.
Chantal Bruno, the COFACE Disability co-president, was interviewed by the CFHE (Conseil Français des Personnes Handicapées pour les affaires Européennes et internationales) to discuss our work for the rights of children and young people with disabilities in Europe.
In December 2021, COFACE Families Europe released the S.H.I.F.T. from word to actions: shedding the light on the S.H.I.F.T. towards meaningful inclusion in Europe, where we highlighted 45 practices for meaningful inclusion in Eu rope, aligned with the 45 actions of our S.H.I.F.T. guide. Over the last months, we have received news about a few practices that we are happy to share with you, hoping that they will inspire you as they have inspired us.

The first few years of a child’s life are a particularly sensitive period in the process of development of the body, brain, and communication. They lay the foundation for cognitive functioning; behavioral, social, and self-regulatory capacities; and physical health. EASPD – the European Association of Service Providers for persons with Disabilities – is strongly committed to developing quality ECI systems across Europe based on the individual needs of the children, families, and carers.
